The National Hurricane Center is tracking four tropical waves, but no cyclone formation is expected this week.

Higos weakened to a tropical depression in the Philippine Sea late Tuesday Japan time, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Higos is not the only storm in the Western Pacific. Another system, Typhoon Mekkhala, is set to follow a similar path close to the coast of Japan.
